It's quite simple really, you get out of these things what people are prepared to put in, if everyone just sits there waiting for someone else to post something then the forum will always be inactive. If everyone (and that includes me) makes a contribution to the forum by posting their pics (I have some holiday snaps in the pipeline) or offering some advice or reviews then people will find this forum a nice place to be. The main problem is there are so many forums about that specialise in photography, and without being nasty it's hard to offer something different (there are some good ideas floating about though.) On the other hand, and this is a personal opinion, the successful forums aren't ones with the most traffic, they're the ones that offer the best community to its users.
