Hello Folks,
My name's Maxine and I have stumbled across this forum via the Wildlife UK Forums, I post threads there sometimes and enter the photo competition most months. I've only just started to get into photography proper, I've always had an interest but not the equipment.
I recently got a bargain from e-bay, a brand new Canon EOS D350 with an 18-55mm lens, it had been an 'open box' model so it had been handled but not previously owned, it was in perfect condition with all the necessary bits and pieces, including a 'Magic Lantern' book on how to use it! I won't tell you how much I paid but needless to say I was very pleased with myself (especially since I'd been out-bid on a few previously which were nowhere near as good).
I live on a narrow boat with my husband Steve in and around South Leicestershire/Northamptonshire boarder, the nearest place of interest is Foxton Locks a few miles away, near Market Harborough. I enjoy music (I sing and play in a band), eating, drinking, fishing and generally chilling out! I try to take my camera everywhere and seem to be leaning towards a more abstract approach - I'd like to become good at portrait photography and I'd love to do a wedding! One day perhaps! Here's a photo of myself, taken at Cropredy, on the South Oxford Canal with the biggest fish I've ever caught. Like most people interested in nature and wildlife, I'm most careful when I'm fishing, I NEVER use barbed hooks and always handle the fish with extreme care and for as little time as possible out of the water. I also always check for mites or other parasites so sometimes they benefit from having an encounter with me!
